David McGranahan
USDA/ERS, Senior Economist, Resource and Rural Economics Division
David McGranahan is a Senior Economist with the Economic Research Service, U.S. Department of Agriculture, where he specializes in rural economic growth. Recent work has focused on the importance of natural amenities, creative class, and entrepreneurship in the generation of new jobs in rural areas. He has served as an expert for USAID, the World Bank, and the Organization for Economic Cooperation and Development, and on the Boards of Directors of the Southern Rural Development Center and the Northeast Regional Center for Rural Development. He is past-president of the Southern Regional Science Association. He has a PhD. in Sociology (University of Wisconsin-Madison) and a B.A. in Economics (Harvard).
