Michael Shelton
CEO, Valdese Weavers
Michael Shelton is the President and CEO of Valdese Weavers, LLC located in Valdese, NC. A native of Kingsport, TN he holds both B.A. and M.A. degrees from Furman University in Greenville, SC. After graduation he was an assistant football coach at Furman. He joined the textile industry with LaFrance Industries in 1977, where he held various sales and marketing positions. After a two-year stint representing Doblin Fabrics, he joined Valdese Weavers in 1988, as sales manager becoming Vice President of Sales and Marketing in 1991. In 1996, he was appointed President and CEO, the forth individual to hold this position since the company was founded in 1935. He serves on the Board of Directors of Western Carolina Industries as well as the National Textile Association.
