Mark Sorrells

Senior Vice President, Golden LEAF, Inc.

Mark Sorrells is Senior Vice President for the Golden LEAF, Inc. He joined the Foundation in May 2001, as Vice President of Programs. Previously, Mark was the Executive Director for NC REAL (Rural Entrepreneurship through Action Learning) Enterprises, a statewide non-profit organization which works to create economic opportunities and improve social conditions for rural, low-wealth, and minority communities throughout North Carolina. Prior to that Mark taught business administration and entrepreneurship courses for seven years at Haywood Community College.

Mark grew up in a rural farm community in western NC and worked in family-owned businesses, including farming enterprises, since the age of seven. He serves on the North Carolina Commission on Workforce Development and is a 199-2001 Friday Fellow of the Wildacres Leadership Initiative. Mark earned his M.B.A. (with a concentration in Finance) and his B.S. in Business Administration from the University of Tennessee at Knoxville.
