R.V. Rikard

Green Business Fund Grant Administrator, NC Board of Science and Technology

RV Rikard is the Grants Administrator for the North Carolina Board of Science & Technology (NCBST). In the Spring and Summer of 2008, Mr. Rikard's primary focus was the new North Carolina Green Business Fund (NCGBF). The NCGBF is a competitive peer reviewed grant program offered by the NCBST. In addition, RV serves as the NCBST Webmaster and remains abreast of client side web technology.

Prior to joining the Department of Commerce, RV was a Grant Development Coordinator for the Wake County Public School System. RV remains active in the world of grantsmanship as a member of the Grant Information Network (GIN) in the Triangle area. From 2003 to 2007, RV was a Graduate Teaching Assistant in the Department of Sociology & Anthropology at North Carolina State University where he taught Introduction to Sociology, Social Problems in America, Criminology, and facilitated the first Inside-Out Prison Exchange Program in North Carolina. RV is a native of Black Mountain, North Carolina; however, he has always felt that Boone, NC is his home. He earned a B.S. in Anthropology and M.A. in Social Science from Appalachian State University. Currently, he is a doctoral student at North Carolina State University in the Department of Sociology & Anthropology and hopes to defend his dissertation by December 2008. RV and his partner Lisa live in Raleigh.
